This may be one of the most renowned of scriptures. The psalmist, a shepherd himself, likened his own relationship with God to that of a Shepherd and his sheep. You can see the caring relationship dynamic in the many ways both the sheep and Shepherd relate to one another. Even if you aren't familiar with the lifestyle of a Shepherd, you can still relate to the many ways the Lord cares for you as his child and that is what's most transcendent about this passage.
