Part of the "Fruit of the Spirit" series, this is a word that means "self-control." Self-control is so incredibly necessary in order to properly allow the power of the Holy Spirit to move mightily in our lives. It is the ultimate death of self, or, in other words, our flesh and carnal desires. It is the only way to serve God in the way he desires. True love for him, will express itself through obedience, which, many times will require the Lord's temperance.
